Ghetto Bird Non Reverse
Maybe they were too unique or too fancy for the era, Dating back to 65' the last great era of instrument design in Kalamazoo, Michigan famed car designer Ray Dietrich took on the lines of mid-50s car tailfins, the more standard double-cutaway design with the bass horn is longer than the treble horn and the headstock having the tuners mounted on the treble side that also features a much more resonant Full tenon ("set") neck rather than the old neck-through construction. Noted guitar authority and author Tom Wheeler once compared the original designs pronouncing the non-reverse versions the "fretted-instrument equivalent of Elmer Fudd". Most collectors agree with (and laugh at!) the assessment. But for some legendary artists like Johnny Winter, Joe Perry, Gatemouth Brown and others the Non-Reverse are nonetheless a toneful, balanced, comfortable, easy-to-play instrument and defiantly way ahead of its time.
